Our Entrepreneurial Journey
Jake Containers was founded in 2017 when our owner, Darrin Shamosh, took a leap of faith at age 47. After spending years building businesses for others, Darrin found himself at a crossroads. It was his wife who provided the encouragement he needed, pointing out that this was his opportunity to build something of his own. With her support, Jake Containers was born.
Since then, we’ve grown into a trusted name in storage containers throughout the tri-state area, specializing in the sale and rental of portable storage containers. What sets us apart is simple: we’re a small, family-owned business that puts customers first in an industry often dominated by larger, impersonal corporations.

During the interview with Spencer Savings Bank, Darrin shared valuable insights from his entrepreneurial journey. Drawing on his CPA background, he emphasized the importance of understanding where every dollar goes in your business and what it takes to keep it thriving.
He also spoke about the value of embracing risks and learning from mistakes. “It’s human nature to make mistakes,” Darrin explained, “and doing so provides you with an opportunity to learn from your mistakes and improve your business.”
Perhaps most importantly, Darrin highlighted what he calls “People, Process, and Systems.” Running a successful business isn’t a solo endeavor. Our relationship with Spencer Savings Bank began before Jake Containers even existed. Darrin had been a personal banking customer at the Spencer near his home for years. When it came time to establish banking for the business, he wanted to give Spencer a shot to help make his entrepreneurial dreams a reality.
